Bear Trap Canyon

We haven't ever been there, they haven't been there in a long long time, we had a 2 year old with us, but even though we took off at noon, "she" insisted that we walk at least 4 miles before a lunch break: good thing "she didn't want to walk 5 miles. There was no way to cross the river. BUT the best part: at exactly 3.9 miles we found the best picnic spot we could ask for, and a great place for the kid to run around in.

HOPE Walk: On the News

Greetings !
Here is the News on yesterday's HOPE Walkbut you should watch this ASAP:I don't how long it will be there.  AND yes, you have to listen to the commercial first, ---we are the second story once the news starts.  And, yes, he put me in the pictures several times.

IF this doesn't work (it did for me, so it should), go to www.KBZK.com, and check on the June 15 Z7 Morning news, which today is under "TOP VIDEOS"---there is also more information under the left side box scroll down some) with the child's face and a globe, and it says Summer of Hope.  There is also the story, but only in the written version.

It went very well, and we raised the amount needed, with $79 dollars to spare, so the total was $21,079.00, with Johnny and I raising about $2100.   The weather was really nice, too.  Many of the families that have previously adopted youth through this program were also there, and what a joy to meet them.

We also were in Yellowstone yesterday, took a drive through the rain around the lower loop of Yellowstone National Park, and then went up to Mammoth to do a Story on the Newly renovated W.A. Hall building that the Yellowstone's Association had their grand Opening in, in Gardiner (Montana).  They are the non-profit educational outreach in the park. Later, we went & took a bike ride and a hike to some of the thermal area's of between Old Faithful and Madison Junction.  As we came to the end of our ride, a coyote ran right in front of us. Beautiful sight.  As I drove home, Johnny wrote up the story, that is until the battery died.

I am hoping the weather thinks it is about time to warm up.
It is nice enough to get out in the garden again, tho.

The walk is Saturday !!  So far, we know of $12,000 dollars raised !!
The kids come July 13th or there abouts. Once they have the money, and can purchase the tickets, we'll know for sure.

We have raised about $970 so far, with about $220 being sent directly for doing things with & for the kids. I have heard more is on the way, but for now,  THANK YOU to ALL who are a part of this awesome summer vacation for the kids !

Went ahead and made our Glacier Reservations, but won't be able to stay in the park. I would rather be camping, of course, but we got a real nice place at a hotel just outside the west entrance.  July 27-30 we'll be @ Glacier with Juliet, Jaymark, and Johnny's mom, his only sister Mary Ann, Ben, his nephew and maybe brother-in-law, Chris

"A Little more encouragement each day" pretty well describes each day lately as we check the mail for pledges that are coming in for the HOPE Walk.  THANK YOU to those who have already sent us a pledge or offered us toys, clothes and other needed items.  We have two mattresses for the bunk bed now !!  Maybe we won't have to use the blow up bed in the tent in the yard, now !

The HOPE Walk/Run & BBQ following it is June 13th. That's next week, Saturday !!   WOW  !!  What was 2 months away has been filled up with trainings, meetings and other preparations (like garage sales)  for hosting children from the Philippines in hopes of finding them a forever family.  If you still want to make a pledge, this is just a reminder that the time is almost here to buy their plane tickets !!

Have friends, co-workers & family  write checks to "Summer of HOPE." and drop it in the mail right away. Even the smallest amount ad up.

Last week, a fellow at church came up and asked who he could ask. As I gave him the packet, I said, Everyone you meet at work, relatives, neighbors.

Two weeks ago, one of the gals at the Children's Museum where I volunteer time asked if she could run.  I was shocked. I had not even asked her.

My dentist also asked if he needs to send a check to me, or to Sacred Portion. I told him there is a contest for those who bring in the most money, so if you send it directly to Sacred Portion, at least mention our names. Then I told him I knew of a family that had already raised lots more than us, and so it really didn't matter.  We had a good laugh. But really, there is a prize for the family/team that raises the most.

When I got home, I added up our pledges to about $1290  so far.  We only need $2000 more !!  Fortunately we also have a great team out soliciting businesses.

So, you can write a check and mail it to us, OR you can pledge an amount in this next week and pay as soon as it works best. I believe they do receive pledge money throughout the summer, also, but they really need it now to buy the plane tickets, next week !

You can send it directly to Sacred Portion. I'll  put the address below our  address, below.  Sacred Portion is tax deductible and will send out receipts & thank you's.  Give us a call if you have questions or need some information.  We live @

198 Woodman Drive,
Belgrade, MT   59714

Sacred Portion
7104 Bristol Lane
Bozeman, MT  59715

July 13 - Aug 9, are the dates we will be hosting Juliet (11) and her brother, Jaymark (9) through the Summer of HOPE Program & Sacred Portion Children's Outreach.

We are excited as the time grows closer. We met a young man aged 15 that was just brought home here through adoption and he knew the 2 we are hosting !!  He is from the same orphanage as Juliet and Jaymark, and was able to show us pictures of  Juliet & Jaymark in several of them !!  The orphanage looks like a real nice place !

We have found housing for the Escort (BIG PRAISE !)

Johnny has been working on stories and commercials for the Hope Walk. It is getting exciting. We have dressers, a backpack of paper and drawing things (like water paints, pencils and markers), toys, games and an offer to let us borrow legos and some clothes. We got a bunk bed, a doll house, big plastic horses, cars & a road rug, and  two mattresses. It is coming together really nice.

A BIG THANK YOU to all that have offered to help in various ways. It is all so meaningful to us.

We appreciate  your help in any way you can.  A BIG  Thank YOU in advance.  And Thank YOU to those who have already sent in pledges. We really appreciate  your support and involvement, Alot !!

Anyone is welcomed to come walk with us.  We start at Bogart Park in Bozeman @ 9:00 a.m. for the registration, as the walk starts  @ 10:00 a.m. Runners will take off first. I also know it is a busy weekend, too, and there is alot going on. WoW !  There are alot of Fund Raisers just in Bozeman this week. They all sound good !

WE have mattresses !! Both "got to us", FREE  !!
We 'd been going to many garage sales this Saturday looking exclusively for 2 single mattresses for the bunk bed we bought, but then, we went to our last one for the day, but it was out, and Johnny didn't really want to go and I was hungry, but we went, and they had box springs out but it turned out to be a king bed they were trying to get rid of at the sale.  When we told her so, she said, oh I have a mattress I want to get rid of down in our basement, so she just gave it to us.  SO GLAD we went.

Then a gal from church had one for us to look at and we went and picked that up last night !!

We have been able to get almost everything we might need, mostly through garage sales.  It is so exciting !!  We haven't bought clothes yet, but have had offers for when we have a better idea of their sizes.   Now, to put it all together and move the furniture around to work better.  BOY IS time flying.  !!
